6. a) The topic the writer is writing about, is her own personal experience growing up. It's about the hardships she had to endure by being the only black child in her new black neighborhood and how it made her feel isolated while growing up.
b) The main idea in this essay is feeling a sense of lonliness for having no one but her dog as a playmate.
7. The author uses alot of modes of development in this essay. She uses example by explaining why her mother wanted them to move from Mee Street, instead of just saying they needed to move. She uses comparison-contrast, by comparing the difference between Mee Street and Dandridge Avenue. She uses alot of description by always describring everything she says, and leaving me with no questions. An example of her describing something is when she said her and her mother had to ride the back of the bus, and get off from the back door because they were black.
9. In the second paragraph the word suspicious really stands out to me. The tone of voice I hear from the writer is a voice of sadness from being suspicious to her new neighborhood, and voice of frusteration. I can only imagine how frusterated she by the white people in her neighborhood being suspicious of her for the only reason being the color of her skin.
